a short vacation

We are off to California to celebrate my dear old dad's 80th birthday. We shall return with tales of pregnant air travel. Joy!

Currently we are grappling with the impulse of random persons to reach out and touch Mimi's stomach. It is a powerful impulse and surprisingly invasive, though I must confess I have on occasion had to check myself so as not to do it to pregnant women who are not my wife. Mimi usually threatens bodily harm while I have suggested she just reach around and grab the person's ass. We'll see how the experiment goes.

When I was 6 months pregnant a strange lady KISSED my belly just walked up to me on the street and kissed it. Strange, but true.

Yuki is now approaching the age where she is hearing at school that Santa perhaps does not exist and that things are coming from parents. This concern is also spreading to the area of the Tooth Fairy and the Switch Witch. But, Yuki still wants to believe in the magic.  So much so that while she expressed concern, she has yet to come out and ask us. So I suggested we watch Miracle on 34th Street which we did during Thanksgiving weekend and she was starry eyed.
