another country heard from

Mimi's folks are in the hizouse. Not much to say about it other than they look great, they love Yuki, and she appears to love them right back. Here are some photos for your enjoyment.

Oh, hello. I didn't see you there.

Yuki and the newest member of her fan club, Hiro.

Yuki strikes a pose with her grandmother, Janet.

And because we like you, here's some bonus cuteness.

Okay, that was probably more because we are kind of obnoxious with the pictures of our kid, but we do like you. Promise.

It's amazing how much alike all the grandfolks look when they first meet their grandcutie. All of their expressions are the same -- joy, wonder, amazement. Yuki -- well she just looks cute. Is that a curl I see forming on her forehead?

Indeed! Yuki has the beginnings of a cowlick that will no doubt torment her in her teenage years. Right now, though, it's as cute as cute can be.

They do look alike, but I wonder how much photographer control you executed here, Philip: did you ask both sets of grandparents, Mimi, and Yuki to all pose in the exact place or was that a coincidence?
And I don't mind excess pictures of Yuki cuteness. Keep it coming. We're all just so damn happy for you.

I think owing to the limited number of places to stand and/or sit in our house, all of the grandparents ended up in the same places for their photoographs. Or maybe it's because they are all the same age? Or maybe there is some grandparent template they all use ...

panicky interlude

This is not the promised "Magical Ponies" post. Apologies. Instead, this is the "You Negligent Monster" post. Because Kiddo is in a Japanese daycare, parents are asked to remove their shoes before coming in. No problem. I have a pair of loafers that I hate that I wear on pickup days so I can get in and out more quickly. Most days while I'm putting my shoes on, Yuki will run away from me and I will make noisy protestations and she will giggle and come back. Today, however, there was the running and the noisy protestations and the giggling and a splat. I guess she tripped ("running away" involves going around a corner where I can't see her) because she was crying and pulling herself up off the floor when I got to her. "No big deal" as she likes to say (she does, really, it's friggin' adorable). She had a little red line across the bridge of her nose but there was no blood. She asked for a Band Aid and I told her we'd get her one...
