Today was the non-stress test. We have the most non-stressed, unborn child in the world. Mimi was hooked up to a couple of fetal monitors and told to press a button every time she felt Flippy move. Flippy wasn't too interested in moving. It was 1:00 in the afternoon and we had just finished lunch so I think we were all feeling a little nappy. Our appointment was scheduled for 11:30 but since this was the only day the testing lady was going to be in, and because apparently everybody's babies are really mellow around mid-day, she was way behind. So we went to lunch and came back and sat in a room reading The New Age Guide to Baby Names (published in 1974). Did you know you can make up names by taking a word that means something to you and rearranging the letters to come up with a new name? You can! Take "earth" and rearrange the letters to get "Retha."
Again, "Wha-huh?"
Okay, here goes. If it's a boy "Aselblab" and if it's a girl "Elblat." Go us.
Anyway, we're getting a little loopy with the waiting. The kid is doing fine. Just doesn't want to come out. I hope this is not a portent and in 20 years we have to "suggest" the kid find another place to live.
We finish today with an email we got today from our friend Kate Swenson, telling of a dream she had about Mimi:

You were living with me and Joey and you would stay in your room all the time. We hardly ever would see you, but you always seemed to produce huge amounts of plastic recycling, that you would pile outside your door and in various other places in the house. If we should happen to see you outside your room, you wouldn't say anything, but put your head down and walk really fast until you were back in your room. You kept this big cup in our kitchen sink, that was filled with liquid and covered with a towel and you said it was very important that nobody disturb it and that you would be really angry if anything happened to it. Then one day I accidentally knocked the cup over and inside were two baby panda bears that you had been keeping alive underwater, kind of like sea monkeys...
